I was skimming through “Hack a Day” rss feed, found this interesting page.

Author describes a way to develop a basic Logic Analyser (10 Hz ) which uses only the parallel port. Furthermore he gives a modified circuit for the people who do not want to risk the parallel port. The latter uses a  HC245 octal bus transceiver to feed the 8 data lines on the parallel port.
